Soaking the affected body part in warm water is the quickest way. Otherwise if only red it will heal in time as any other burn. A red area will heal quickly (a day or two). See a doctor if the skin blisters or comes off. Treat a dry ice burn as you would treat frostbite or a burn from heat. If it is transported inside a car or van it is best to transport in a separate compartment from passengers, if it is not is a separate compartment make sure there is fresh incoming air(keep windows open). Do not store Dry Ice in unventilated rooms, cellars, autos or boat holds. if the chemical is dry, brush it off their skin use running water to remove any traces of the chemical from the burnt. Always check the manufacturers instructions when using over-the-counter medication. Treat the pain from a burn with paracetamol or ibuprofen. They may help reduce itching if your skin is dry, because itching increases with dry skin. Never use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances like butter. Keep proper air ventilation wherever Dry Ice is stored. Moisturizers help to maintain skin moisture and hydration. The sublimation of Dry Ice to Carbon Dioxide gas will cause any airtight container to expand or possibly explode. Do not store Dry Ice in a completely airtight container. The thicker the insulation, the slower it will sublimate. If touched briefly it is harmless, but prolonged contact with the skin will freeze cells and cause injury similar to a burn. Always handle Dry Ice with care and wear protective cloth or leather gloves whenever touching it. Dry Ice temperature is extremely cold at -109.3☏ or -78.5☌.
